Beatin’ the Streets

The writers of The American Complaint Department take to the streets to find out what the average person thinks about the issues we discuss…

“How would you feel about the federal government banning the sale and possession of assault rifles?”

“I think fully automatic .50 cals should be illegal, but I think an AR15 should be legal. I think it should be easier to get automatic weapons…How about making people accountable for their actions? If you’re caught dealing dope, you don’t need weapons. If you’re caught using dope you don’t need weapons. Why not put people back in check instead of the forgiveness policy…We get out of our problems too easy nowadays…If I want to own it, I should be able to buy it. I don’t think it’s right that I should have to give up something that I’ve not done wrong.” Tim M., Salesperson, Indianapolis, IN

“I don’t see how it can be done, I believe in the right to bear arms.” – Leslie C., Stay at home mom, West Sacramento/California

“I personally don’t have any, I don’t need an assault rifle, guns are for hunting and protecting your family, you have that right.  Mysterious people will always get guns.  So many things are illegal, it won’t make a difference.” – Art P., Fire Captain, Wheatland, Ca.

“I  wouldn’t feel anything. It doesn’t affect me in any way shape or form.” – Melanie Y., Comedian, Sacramento, Ca.

“I would definitely not want that; it is not the rifle that is the issue, its how people are using it.” – Tony F., Student, Folsom, Ca.

“It’s just plain bad.  He feels it is infringing on his 2nd Amendment rights, and is nothing more than a power grab, that if they win they’ll be coming into our homes to take our weapons.  He feels it simply isn’t right. ” – Kenny, Suwanee, Georgia
